LINDSBORG, KS. November 24, 2025 — ´óÏ㽶µ¼º½ College is proud to announce the publication of a new scholarly work by Dr. Megan M.L. Case, Assistant Professor of Religion. Her book, The Productive and Disordered Bodies of Judges 19–21: Pre-Monarchic Israel as a Somatic Society, is now available through Sheffield Phoenix Press.

Dr. Case’s research offers a groundbreaking analysis of Judges 19–21, exploring how bodies, gender, and social order function within the text’s ancient Israelite context. The book examines how communities regulate bodies and behavior, and how disorder emerges when those social structures break down.

A scholar of Ancient Mediterranean Religions, Dr. Case earned her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin, with a graduate portfolio in Women’s and Gender Studies. She also holds degrees from Gettysburg College and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Her research focuses on the Hebrew Bible, particularly issues related to gender and sexuality in the Deuteronomistic History.

Dr. Case has taught at Elon University, Virginia Polytechnic and State University, Drury University, and Luther College. Her work has been published in leading journals, including Vetus Testamentum, Biblical Interpretation, and the Journal of Religion and Popular Culture, as well as in several edited volumes. She also serves as the editor of the Poetical and Wisdom Books for the forthcoming King James Version Study Bible from Oxford University Press.
